Where to base yourself in Copenhagen
Stay in Vesterbro for the widest choice of hostels, good food and nightlife and quick trains from Central Station, and in Indre By if you want to walk out of the door into the old city. Copenhagen is compact and easy to cycle, so anywhere central works.
If you want a hotel, an apartment or a boutique stay, our guide to where to stay in Copenhagen covers each area in more detail, with places for every budget.
Getting to and around Copenhagen
Copenhagen Airport is about 8 kilometres from the centre. Trains run to Central Station, a few minutes' walk from most of the hostels on our list, in about 15 minutes, and the M2 metro runs around the clock to Kongens Nytorv and Nørreport.
The centre is compact and very walkable, and Copenhagen is one of the best cycling cities in the world, with bike lanes almost everywhere. The metro runs day and night, and tickets for the metro, trains and buses are easiest to buy in the DOT app.
